ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's football team will look to extend its current win streak to three games when it plays host to Texas College on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff at Wilford Moore Stadium is set for 2 p.m.

The game is the War Hawks' annual “Military Appreciation Day.”  All Military members with a current identification will be admitted free of charge, along with their families.

Fans will want to arrive early for the pre-game events honoring the leadership of Dyess Air Force Base. Included in the program is a fly-over by a B-1 Bomber immediately following the National Anthem.

The War Hawks are hoping to unleash some aerial firepower of their own via the “Air Raid Offense,” having won five of their last six games. McM comes in averaging 332.5 yards per game thru the air and 405.8 y.p.g. in total offense.

McMurry University and Texas College will be meeting for only the second time on the football field. The previous meeting, back in the 2010 season, was a win by the War Hawks (64-0) in the second game of the season.

Both teams are coming off of wins last week. The Steers topped Concordia College (31-20) on the road, while McMurry won its Homecoming Game versus Langston University (29-11).

Texas College tallied 24 first-half points and then hung on for a 31-20 win. Concordia College rallied for all of its points in the second half, but could not overtake TC.  Quarterback Milton Harper completed 12-of-27 passes for 237 yards and one TD. Senior Johnny Thomas caught four passes for 118 yards in the game. Linebacker Dontay Livingston had a team-leading 13 tackles.

McMurry's receiving tandem of sophomores Greg Livingston and Jeret Smith have been particularly hot of late. Livingston had his second-consecutive 100-yard receiving game in last week's 29-11 win over Langston, hauling in seven passes for 122 yards. Livingston has had seven or more catches in his last six games in a row.

Smith, making just his second appearance since suffering a knee injury in week one versus ACU, had two TD receptions versus the Lions.

Last week, the War Hawks defense was stellar once again, holding Langston to 11 points and turning away the Lions on seven occasions, after the visitors had penetrated McM's half of the field (four times inside the 20 yard line).

Freshman defensive back Ryan Williams led the team with 12 tackles and was named as the National Christian College Athletic Association “Student-Athlete of the Week” for his efforts. Scott Roberson and Markell Rice each had seven tackles last week.

Desmond Guy produced the “back-breaker” - from Langston's point of view - with McM ahead by a precarious 15-3 margin near the end of the half.  The Lions were attempting a field goal, which was blocked by the War Hawks. Guy scooped up the ball and raced 76 yards for the score.

On the year, the War Hawks and TC have five common opponents on their respective schedules.  Thus far, both teams defeated Wayland Baptist, while McM topped Oklahoma Panhandle State, Incarnate Word and Langston (which were three of the Steers' losses). Texas College also had a setback to Bacone, which McMurry plays next week.

McMurry also has a pair of players – one on each side of the ball – nearing milestones.  Senior quarterback Jake Mullin needs just nine more completions to reach 1,000 for his career (adding to what is already his school record).

Senior defensive end Corey Hall needs 3 ½ more sacks to break the career record of 22 ½ sacks set by Brian Venezuela (1996-2000).
