ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry women's basketball team will look to extend its current winning streak to three games on Saturday afternoon when it plays host to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Tip-off at Kimbrell Arena is slated for 1 p.m.
The War Hawks (10-5, 8-3 ASC) are coming off of a dominating, 55-39, win last Thursday evening versus the American Southwest Conference's West Division leader, Concordia-Texas. It was the second-consecutive game in which McM head coach Veronica Snow's team has held an opponent to less than 40 points and the fifth sub-50 point defensive effort by the War Hawks this season.
The win moved McMurry to within one game in the loss column of the ASC West co-leaders (Concordia and Howard Payne) as it sits in third place in the ASC race, currently.
The Crusaders (2-14, 1-11 ASC) are coming off of a 63-47 loss across town at Hardin-Simmons on Thursday. UMHB won its only ASC game of the season a week ago, topping Texas Lutheran (70-55) at home.
Brittany Zamora is Mary Hardin-Baylor's leading scorer at 11.6 points per game average overall and has a 12.5 p.p.g. mark in ASC games.
The tandem of Ashlee Adams and Jovana Miles have been formidable rebounders this season, averaging 7.0 and 6.9 rebounds per game, respectively.
Sophomore
Keshia Collins led the War Hawks in scoring versus Concordia, booking 17 points. It was the ninth time in the team's 15 games she has topped the McMurry scorers. On the year, Collins averages 15.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per outing, both team-leading numbers. Collins has a club-high 44 steals, as well, after adding five thefts versus Concordia-Texas.
Senior
