McMurry set for battle of ASC unbeatens vs. Hardin-Simmons Wednesday: WATCH IT LIVE!

ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry University volleyball team travels across town to face Hardin-Simmons in a battle for first place in the American Southwest Conference West Division Wednesday at 7 p.m. at HSU's Mabee Complex. Both teams come into the contest with 7-0 records in ASC play.
 
The Cowgirls carry a 13-2 overall record and is currently on a 12-match win streak. HSU is led by junior Madison Reyes who has recorded 197 kills, and 156 digs over 15 games. Reyes has been voted as the ASC West Division Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, coming off of a 2010 season where she helped her team to a conference tournament title.  Sophomore Christine Sas has added 152 kills of aide Reyes.
 
As a team the War Hawks are leading the ASC in hitting percentage carrying a .271 average, compared to .200 hitting percentage coming from the Cowgirls. McMurry is averaging 12.2 kills per set and HSU hold the edge averaging 12.61 kills per set. Opponents against the Cowgirls have a hitting percentage of .154; the War Hawks opponents are hitting .079. Defensively McMurry holds the edge in blocks over HSU recording 143.5 and 86 respectively.
 
The War Hawks are looking to improve on their 17-0 start, and its undefeated conference record. The team has four players with at least 100 kills led by M.J. Vickers' 195. Vickers, Stephanie Henry, and Kasi Conners have each recorded a hitting percentage over .300. Jasmine Qualls and Demi Holladay have split time at the setter position recording 304 and 241 assists respectively. Marcum leads the team in digs with 235  while Conners leads the ASC in blocks recording with 80.
