WESTWORTH VILLAGE, TX - McMurry's women's golf team placed fourth after the first round of the SCAC Championships on Sunday afternoon at the par-72, Hawks Creek Golf Club.
The War Hawks finished the first round with a 335 total (+47).
LeTourneau leads the tournament with a 311 total (+23), sitting 14 shots ahead of second-place St. Thomas (TX).
Schreiner is in third at 330. McMurry trails Schreiner by five shots and is six shots better than fifth-place Centenary (341). Concordia (TX) (346), Hendrix (358), Dallas (360), and Texas Lutheran rounded out the field.
Katelyn Henslee led the War Hawks with an opening-round 77 (+5). She finished the day tied for second place in the tournament, trailing individual leader Leah Torres of St. Thomas (TX) (75) by two shots.
Karen Santos shot an 83 to place tied for 14th and round out the top two for the War Hawks.
Addisyn Kinnan shot an 87 to sit tied for 22nd.
Raelynn Leifeste carded an 88, and
Kenlee Turner rounded out the McMurry lineup with a 91.
