HOUSTON, TX - McMurry's women's golf team placed third after the opening round of the Space City Classic on Monday afternoon at the par-71, Gus Wortham Golf Course.
The War Hawks shot an opening-round 334 total. McMurry sits just one shot behind second-place St. Thomas (333) and is two shots ahead of fourth-place Southwestern (336). Hardin-Simmons leads the six-team field with a 319 total.
Addisyn Kinnan led the War Hawks with an opening-round 78 (+7). She finished the day in a four-way tie for second place in the individual standings, trailing the tournament leader by just one shot.
Katelyn Henslee and
Raelynn Leifeste both shot an 82 (+11) in the first round to tie for 11th place.
Kenlee Turner rounded out the top four performers for the War Hawks, shooting a 92 (+21) to tie for 27th.
Karen Santos also competed for McMurry, placing 32nd with a 96 (+25).
