ABILENE, TX – McMurry University Athletics is excited to announce the official schedule for the 2025-2026 men's basketball season. The highly anticipated season will be the first under new head coach Matt Bolton, as the team looks to build on its 2024-2025 campaign that saw them finish with a 9-16 overall record and a 7-9 mark in conference play.
"We are excited about this new era of McMurry Men's Basketball! Our schedule gives us a ton of chances to play in front of our War Hawk faithful with 26 of 27 contests taking place in the state of Texas," said Coach Bolton.
The War Hawks will begin their season with an exhibition contest against Abilene Christian University on November 3 at Moody Coliseum in Abilene. The regular season officially gets underway with a trio of road contests. The first game takes place on November 7 against East Texas Baptist University, followed by a trip to Brownwood to face Howard Payne University on November 10. The team then returns to Abilene to face rival Hardin-Simmons on November 11 at the Mabee Complex.
The home opener is slated for November 15 against the Mississippi University for Women at Kimbrell Arena. The War Hawks will travel to Odessa for an exhibition game against Texas-Permian Basin on November 18, followed by a home contest against Howard Payne on November 20.
The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) schedule tips off on November 25 at 2024-25 Gold Division runner-up Schreiner University20-7 overall, 12-4 SCAC). The War Hawks then play host to Schreiner University on December 1.
The team will also participate in the Dallas Huston Classic in Brownwood, TX, December 5-6, facing Arlington Baptist University and Dallas Christian College.
Before resuming conference play, McMurry heads to Georgetown to face off with Southwestern University on December 15, followed by a home tilt versus Hardin-Simmons in Kimbrell Arena on January 6.
McMurry continues their SCAC schedule with home games against Centenary College (6-18 overall, 4-11 SCAC) on January 9 and the first of two SCAC newcomers, LeTourneau University (18-8 overall) on January 11.
The War Hawks play the next four SCAC contests on the road with games at Concordia University (13-13 overall, 10-6 SCAC) on January 16, Texas Lutheran University (5-19 overall, 3-12 SCAC) on January 17, Colorado College (14-13 overall, 9-7 SCAC) on January 23, and 2024-25 Blue Division champion University of St. Thomas (26-3 overall, 15-1 SCAC).
This road slate is followed by a quartet of home matchups, first against Hendrix College (2-24 overall) in their first season in the SCAC on January 30, University of Ozarks (14-11 overall, 6-10 SCAC) on February 1, 2024-25 Blue Division runner-up Colorado College on February 6, and the University of St. Thomas on February 8.
The men will travel to Austin College (9-16 overall, 4-12 SCAC) on February 13 and University of Dallas (13-13 overall, 9-7 SCAC) on February 14.
The regular season concludes at home against Concordia University on February 20 and Texas Lutheran University on February 22.
The SCAC Conference Tournament is scheduled to be played from February 27 to March 1 in Conway, Arkansas. The War Hawks look to make a strong push for a spot in the postseason tournament and a successful first year under Coach Bolton's leadership.
