ABILENE- McMurry womens basketball was able to get another conference win on Saturday adfternoon as they took on the University of Dallas at Kimbrell Arena.
McMurry won by a score of 75-48. The War Hawks improved to 16-4 overall, while UDallas dropped to 2-19 overall on the season.
The early stages of the first quarter saw a slow start from both teams offensively before the War Hawks started to find their groove and took a 13-2 lead at the 2:00 mark of the opening quarter. McMurry's defense would continue to be stingy on that end of the floor as they took an 18-4 lead into the second quarter of play.
McMurry's defense would continue their strong defense as they forced a turnover & 2 shot clock violation's on Dallas's first few possessions of the second quarter. The War Hawks were able to completely open the game up as they would continue their dominance on the defensive end while creating good looks on offense. McMurry led by a score of 34-8 at the break.
McMurry looked to continue their momentum into the second half as they looked to keep control in the 3
rd quarter. The Crusaders were able to score more in the third period, but McMurry was able to keep them at a distance as they scored 21 in the 3
rd to make the score 55-21 going into the final quarter of play.
Dallas was able to get some good looks on the offensive end in the final quarter, but McMurry never let them get within a manageable distance as they were able to hold them off and keep control for the remainder of the contest. The War Hawks went on to win by a score of 75-48.
McMurry was led by
Briley Waters with 14 points, followed by
Ashton Garner with 13 points, while Dallas was led by Alyssa Sullivan with 12 points.
The War Hawks are back in action tomorrow against Austin College at Noon at Kimbrell Arena.
