GEORGETOWN- The McMurry men's basketball team picked up a big win in their conference matchup against Southwestern on Saturday evening.  

The War Hawks were able to use a big second half to propel themselves to a win. McMurry improved to 4-13 overall & 2-6 in conference play, while Southwestern fell to 2-18 overall & 2-8 in conference play. 

The Pirates led at the half by a score of 30-26. McMurry was able to keep the game close throughout the first half and were looking to set the tone early in the second half to try to get themselves a win on the road. 

In the second half, the War Hawks were able to shoot the ball better and were able to get some big stops on the defensive end when it mattered most. McMurry outscored Southwestern by 7 in the second half, propelling them to a big 62-59 win in Georgetown. 

It was a good shooting night for the War Hawks as they shot 46% from the field while also hitting 7 big 3 pointers. They scored 20 points off of turnovers compared to Southwestern's 15 points, proving to be a huge difference maker in the game. 

McMurry was led by Jalen Cherry with 13 points, followed by Matt Pena with 11 points, while Southwestern was led by Luke Hatcher with 12 points. 

The War Hawks are back in action on Monday at 7:30 in Austin as they take on Concordia.
