BELTON – McMurry had a strong outing at the Crusader Invitational with four flight championships and three consolation victories.
 
Heat was a factor but the War Hawks were one of the few squads to go through without defaulting any matches.
 
Isaac Gutierrez and Jorge Estrada won their men's singles flights. Isa Lomelli Eli Frosch won their doubles flight. The McMurry women got a flight victory from Jyllian Phillips in singles.
 
Jenna Vincent, K'Linda Mason and McKenzie Carroll reached the finals of their singles draws. Khoen Gregory and Jack Greenwald placed second in their doubles draw.
 
Winning consolation titles were Frosch and Gregory in men's singles and Angel Ramirez and Kaden Collier in men's doubles.
 
Phillips and Carroll won their women's doubles consolation title.
 
"The Warhawks were able to walk away with first, second, and first consolation places during a high temperate, competitive tennis tournament hosted by UMHB," said McMurry head coach Chris Breaux. "It took everything these kids had and more. It was a good warm-up tournament for how the ITA will look over the next two weekends. We played some good tennis, but we still have some work to do."
