ABILENE – McMurry Men's Basketball plays a pair of road games this week, visiting Hardin-Simmons Monday at 6 p.m. and Mary Hardin-Baylor at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
McMurry Storylines
Last Game: The War Hawks are coming off their first win of the season, an 82-77 win at LeTourneau last Monday.
Scoring Big: McMurry is 14
th in Division III with 92.2 points per game. Four War Hawks average double-figures in scoring, led by
Matt Pena at 18.8 points per game.
Kino Thompson averages 17.4 points, followed by
TJ Hilliard at 14.6 and
Jalen Cherry at 10.8.
Board Room: Averaging 32 defensive rebounds per game, McMurry leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and is 16
th in NCAA Division III.
Jalen Cherry leads the War Hawks and is 22
nd in D-3 with 10.8 rebounds per game.
Double-Doubles: Jalen Cherry averages a double-double with 10.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, though he has only had one double-double this season. McMurry has three players with double-doubles: Cherry,
TJ Hilliard and
Julian Wilson.
You Again: The War Hawks face Hardin-Simmons for the second time this season when they meet at HSU on Monday. Hardin-Simmons won in overtime, 81-79, at McMurry last month.
Matt Pena and
Kino Thompson had 17 points each while
Julian Wilson added 15 points and 14 rebounds. Austin Brewer had 21 points and 19 rebounds of the Cowboys.
Scouting HSU: Hardin-Simmons is 2-3 after a 94-92 home loss to Concordia. Chris Bryant averages 19.6 points and Austin Brewer average 19.4 points and 10 rebounds.
Scouting UMHB: UMHB is 4-1 and on a four-game winning streak after a 95-59 win over the College of Biblical Studies. Eli Beard averages 22.5 points and four assists for the Crusaders.
