This Week in McM Men's Basketball

ABILENE – McMurry Men's Basketball returns to the hardwoods with four road games over a seven-game span beginning on Tuesday.
 
The War Hawks (0-1) visit Howard Payne at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and then head to Longview to finish out the November slate of games. McMurry plays Concordia-Chicago at 5 p.m. on Friday and Sewanee at 1 p.m. on Saturday in LeTourneau's LETU Classic. McMurry takes on LeTourneau to finish that stay in Longview in a 6 p.m. game on Monday, Nov. 25.
 
McMurry Storylines
 
Keen on Kino: Kino Thompson leads the War Hawks with 21 points per game. He was nine of 12 from the field, including a three-of-six night from three-point range in the overtime loss to Hardin-Simmons.
 
Pena Huge: Matt Pena knocked down a three-pointer to give McMurry a late lead against Hardin-Simmons and ended the game with 17 points. Pena, like Thompson, was three-0f-six from three-point land.
 
From the Bench to the Boards: Julian Wilson came off the bench to pull down 13 rebounds in his 32 minutes against the Cowboys. He had six offensive and seven defensive rebounds in the game. It was a double-double for Wilson, who also had 13 points.
 
Fresh Eight: Freshman D'Von Turner gave the War Hawks a solid 23 minutes off the bench in his college debut. He had eight points and three rebounds.
 
Hilliard Fills the Box Score: TJ Hilliard made a big contribution in the opener with seven points and eight rebounds in his 24 minutes.
 
Scouting HPU: The Yellow Jackets are 1-3 after a 95-85 home loss to St. Thomas. Hudson Johnson leads the team at 23.8 points per game and Armonie Ramey checks in at 21.5. Both are guards. HPU averages 86 points per game but is allowing 97.
 
Scouting Concordia-Chicago:  CUC lost their season opener at Greenville, 109-96. Guard Jacon Collicott had 30 points and 13 rebounds in the loss. He was 16-16 at the free throw line. The Cougars play Illinois Tech on Tuesday before coming to Texas.
 
Scouting Sewanee: The Tigers are 1-3 after a 74-70 loss at Berea. Russ Marr, a senior guard, leads the team with 22.5 points and four assists per game. Guard Graham Smith averages a double-double with 10.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.
 
Scouting LeTourneau: LeTourneau is 2-1 after an 83-69 win over Centre. Guard Deonte Jackson leads the Yellow Jackets at 22.3 points per game with 6-5 forward Caedmon Liebengood averaging 20.3 points and eight rebounds.
