ABILENE – McMurry Volleyball got came up big when it counted most, taking a pair of five-set wins in the SCAC Crossover Tournament in Kimbrell Arena on Saturday.

McMurry beat Concordia 17-25, 25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 17-15 in the afternoon before getting the victory over Schreiner, 18-25, 25-21, 14-25, 25-21, 15-12.

After dropping the first set to Concordia, McMurry trailed 17-15 in the second set before rattling off a 5-0 run for a 20-17 lead.
Annikah Frank ended the set with a block.

McMurry fell behind 8-6 in the third set before piecing together an 11-0 run to take control, 17-8.
Carli Colbert had two kills in the run. The Tornados were able to narrow the gap to 23-21 but back-to-back kills by
Addyson Tiffin ended the drama.

With the fifth set tied at 15-15, McMurry broke free with consecutive CU attack errors.
Â
Tiffin led the War Hawks with 11 kills. Colbert had 22 assists and
Ashlyn Quillan added 18.
Hannah Page had three aces.

Tiffin was in on nine blocks, including five solos.
Jennika Willis had four block assists

Page led McMurry with 24 digs, followed by
Shaely Rogers with 15,
Chloe Ukle with 14 and
Isabela Dorsey, Willis, Colbert and
Jacee Dinkins with 10 each.

Against Schreiner, Willis,
Bailey Blanton and Dinkins had nine kills each while three War Hawks reached double-figures in assists, led by Quillan with 16. Colbert and
Allison Montoya had 12 each.

Colbert had two aces.

Tiffin was part of nine blocks for the game, including four solos. Rogers and Page had 13 digs each while Dorsey and Willis added 10 apiece.

After falling in the first set and trailing 8-6 in the second, McMurry ran off a 7-0 scoring spree to take a 13-8 lead.
Rylie Patterson had two kills and a block assist in that run. Colbert later ended the set with a kill.

Schreiner won the third set but McMurry came out strong early in the fourth set and never trailed. Tiffin and Willis came up with the game-ending block to tie things up in sets.

With the score tied at 11-11 in the fifth set, Willis and Dinkins had kills to take a 13-11 lead. After the teams traded service errors, Patterson came up with the match point on a kill.

The wins wrap up McMurry's participation in the SCAC Crossover but the action continues tomorrow with Concordia playing Centenary at 10 a.m. and Schreiner playing Dallas at noon.

The War Hawks return to action Thursday when Dallas visits for a 6 p.m. conference contest.
