Box Score McMurry University's War Hawks lost 90-75 to University of Texas-Dallas Saturday, Dec. 16 in Kimbrell Arena in American Southwest Conference action.
Senior forward/center Elias Garcia (Houston, Texas) was the top scorer with 19 points, followed by sophomore guard Coco Rose (Odessa, Texas) with 14, freshman forward Tristan Holden (San Antonio, Texas) with 13 and junior guard Matt Pena (El Paso, Texas) with 10.
Coach Zach Pickelman's team was outscored 42-36 in the first half and 48-39 in the second. The War Hawks made six three-pointers. Holden blocked four shots, and junior forward Josh Alcocer (San Antonio, Texas) and freshman guard Deshawn Crawford (Desoto, Texas) each blocked one. Pena had four steals. McMurry was efficient at the free throw line as Holden was 5 of 6, Crawford was 3 of 4, Pena was 2 of 2 and Garcia was 2 of 3. Crawford led in rebounds with five, two on offense and three on defense.
The lead changed hands five times and the score was tied three times.
McMurry, 4-5 overall and 0-4 in conference, stays home to play University of the Ozarks at 5 p.m. Monday.
