YOUTH MOVEMENT LEADS MAROON AND WHITE

ABILENE, TEXAS - A mid-match surge wasn't enough as McMurry University lost 11-25, 21-25, 8-25 to University of Texas-Dallas in American Southwest Conference action Saturday, Oct. 7 in Kimbrell Arena.

The first set was back-and-forth until the visitors made a big run from which the War Hawks couldn't recover. With members of the Volleyball All-Century Team in attendance, Coach Cammie Petree's squad found its groove in the second stanza by starting with a 6-2 run and later adding runs of 4-0 and 3-0. The third set wasn't favorable to McMurry as the visitors had back-to-back big runs. The War Hawks countered with a 4-1 run late to make the score respectable.

The teams combined for 12 ties and five lead changes.

Junior outside/right side hitter Jennika Willis (Abilene, Texas) and sophomore outside hitter Shaely Rogers (Bandera, Texas) both had eight kills to lead the team, finishing with 26. Freshman setter/defensive specialist Erin Fallon (Boerne, Texas) tallied 11 of the team's 22 assists. Senior defensive specialist/libero Adile Leal (Clute, Texas) added 17 digs to her career total, and junior outside hitter Jacee Dinkins (Azle, Texas) had 10. In comparison, Fallon chipped in eight of the team's 47 digs. The team had two total blocks, and senior middle/right-side hitter Addyson Tiffin (Bushland, Texas) blocked two shots.
