Men's Basketball looks to snap losing streak versus UMHB, Concordia

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry Men's Basketball looks to end a four-game losing streak this week, when the team continues its five-game home stand at Kimbrell Arena against Mary Hardin-Baylor and Concordia Texas.

The War Hawks will face the Crusaders for the second time in three games when they meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with the matchup with the Tornados taking place Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Live stats and video links will be available at mcmurrysports.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: The War Hawks lost a tightly contested matchup with rival Hardin-Simmons, falling 65-59 in their only game of the week.

CARTER COUNTER: Senior guard Zacc Carter tallied just two points last week against Hardin-Simmons. He now sits at 933 for his career, needing 67 more for 1,000.

LET IT FLY: McMurry will look to break out of its shooting slump this weekend as Concordia ranks last in the ASC in field goal percentage defense (50.2 percent) and three-point field goal percentage defense (42.7).

BEAT THE PRESS: Concordia leads the league in steals at 11.6 per game by applying full court pressure. The War Hawks were able to outscore Concordia 32-16 in fast break points in their previous matchup by beating the press.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Senior forward Mike Williams continues to lead four War Hawks averaging double figures at 13.0 points per game. Overall, six players average more than 9.8 points per game. Williams (7.3) and junior guard Khalil Butler (7.1) lead the team in rebounding.

SCOUTING UMHB: The Cru sits one game ahead of McMurry in the standings at 4-4 in the league. Guard Sam Moore ranks fourth in the league in scoring at 20.1 points per game. UMHB continues to lead the league in three-point field goal percentage defense at 29.3 percent.

SCOUTING CTX: Concordia is tied with McM in the ASC standings at 3-5 after the Tornados have won their last three games. The Tornados are third in the league in scoring at 84.2 points per game, led by Philip Meikle's 15.1 points per contest.
