War Hawks to host Pirates Tuesday

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Men's Basketball returns home Tuesday night, as the War Hawks will host Southwestern University in a nonconference matchup in Kimbrell Arena.

Tipoff for Tuesday's game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with live stats and video links available at mcmurrysports.com.

Tuesday evening is McMurry's "Toys for Tots" game, as fans who bring an unwrapped toy to the gate will receive free admission to both the men's and women's games. Fans are also encouraged to wear holiday attire to the game.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: McMurry split its competition against Texas Lutheran and Schreiner last week, picking up its first win of the year over the Mountaineers. The War Hawks then faced NCAA II UT Permian Basin last Tuesday, and gave the Falcons all they could handle before falling 101-88.

AT THE LINE: The War Hawks rank second in the ASC at 75 percent from the free throw line. McM has converted 93-of-124 attempts.

LET IT FLY: McMurry made 15 three pointers in the loss at UTPB. Freshman guard Cody LeBlanc connected on six triples. The 15 makes are one off the school record of 16 in a game. McMurry ranks third in the ASC with 8.5 threes per game.

CAREER NIGHT: LeBlanc had a career night at UTPB, scoring 27 points. He shot 6-for-11 from beyond the arc and was a perfect 9-for-9 at the charity stripe.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Five War Hawks average double figures in scoring: Mike Williams Jr. (12.0); LeBlanc (11.7); Krishawn Terry (10.8); Khalil Butler (10.4); Colin Taylor (10.3). Butler and Williams top the War Hawks in rebounding at 8.8 and 7.8 boards per game, respectively.

ASC LEADERS: Butler's 8.8 boards per game leads the ASC, while Williams' 7.8 rebounds rank sixth in the conference. LeBlanc leads the ASC at 94.1 percent from the line, while Butler ranks fourth and Taylor is seventh.

SCOUTING SU: The Pirates enter Tuesday's contest having won their last two games against Howard Payne and Hardin-Simmons and are 3-2 overall. Forward Brandon Alexander paces the Pirate offense with 14.6 points per game while guard Luke Hicks averages 11.0 points per game. Hicks shoots 47.8 percent from beyond the arc. On the glass, Alexander is one of two Pirates averaging 6.0 rebounds per game.

THE SERIES: McMurry leads the all-time series with Southwestern 38-13. The teams have split the last six meetings, with McMurry winning 97-92 on the road last season.
