RICHARDSON, Texas -  McMurry University's women's and men's tennis teams both dropped wind-chilled matches at the University of Texas-Dallas on Saturday afternoon. The War Hawks women lost by a 9-0 score, while the men were defeated, 7-2.
 
In the women's bout, only Zayra Gomez – playing at No. 3 singles – managed to stretch her match to three sets. Gomez earned the set one win over UTD's Sophie Farmer, 6-4. But Farmer would win the next two sets, 6-1, 10-8.
 
The Comets won the other five singes contests in straight sets. UTD also swept the three doubles bouts, 8-2 at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. UT-Dallas won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles over McM's Briana Perez and Kaitlyn Roberts.
 
In the men's match, the War Hawks' Carlos Martinez had a hand in both of his team's points in the loss. The sophomore Martinez was victorious at No. 1 singles, topping the Comets' Mario Jelev by scores of 6-3, 7-6 (11-9).  With the win, Martinez improved his personal record to 12-2 in singles action, having won four in a row, and 3-0 in ASC matches.
 
In No. 1 doubles play, Martinez and partner Clayton Pope dispatched of the Comets' tandem of Alberto Hernandez and Ashwin Vaithianathan by an 8-4 score.
 
With the losses, the McM men fell to 6-9 overall and 1-2 in the ASC West.  The War Hawks' women are 7-6 on the year and 1-1 in ASC West action.
