ABILENE, Texas -  McMurry University sophomore
Carlos Martinez won his team-leading 13th singles match, leading his team to a 9-0 win over Sul Ross State University. The War Hawks (7-9, 2-2 ASC West) notched their sixth shutout of the season versus the Lobos (1-15, 0-4 ASC West).

Martinez (13-2) won his fifth-consecutive match at the No. 1 singles, dispatching of SRSU's Kyle Ferguson, 6-1, 6-0.  Martinez is 9-1 over his last 10 matches, losing only versus a foe from NCAA Division I Abilene Christian University.

Martinez and partner
Clayton Pope had little problem at No. 1 doubles, either. The Martinez-Pope duo won, 8-1, over the Lobos' tandem of Ferguson and Victor Garcia.  Pope also handed Garcia a loss at No. 2 singles by a 6-0, 6-1 score.

At No. 3 singles,
Andrew Hallowell was a 6-1, 6-4 winner.  At Nos. 4 and 5 singles,
Cody Aaron and
Zach Miller both served up "double bagels," winning by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.  SRSU defaulted McM's
Joseph Diaz at No. 6 singles.

Aaron and Hallowell teamed up at No. 2 doubles, winning 8-3.  Diaz and Miller won by default at No. 3 doubles.

The War Hawks will face Trinity University on Saturday (April 14) for a non-conference match at a neutral site in Georgetown.
