The McMurry University tennis squads continued the fall portions of their respective seasons over the weekend. The War Hawks men stayed local and competed at the ACU Open, while the women were at the ITA southwest Regional tournament in Tyler, Texas.

For the men, sophomore
Carlos Martinez finished in a tie for seventh place in Flight A singles.Â
Clayton Pope and
Zach Miller tied for 11th place.
Andrew Hallowell was 13th.

In Flight B, newcomers Cody Aaron and
Joseph Diaz finished 11th and 13th, respectively. Matthew Sanchez was 15th in Flight C singles.

In men's doubles Flight A, McM's Martinez and Hallowell finished in fourth place. After losing its opening math, the duo battled back to defeat two teams from Hardin-Simmons in the back draw. In Flight B doubles, the War Hawks' tandem of
Chris Causer and
Trey Farmbrough finished seventh.

In the women's weekend action, junior
Samantha Ritz was the team's top place in Flight A singles. After dropping her opening round, Ritz defeated a pair of foes from HSU and UT Tyler before bowing out in the consolation quarterfinals.

In Flight B,
Briana Perez defeated Laela Zaidi of Hendrix in the championship bracket. Newcomer
Claire Huffine and junior
Symphony Munoz both won three matches in the consolation bracket.

In Flight C singles,
Gabrielle Ellwanger won her round of 32 match over Lindsey Reynolds of Schreiner before bowing out. War Hawks' newcomer
Morgan Parnell and
Kiara Jones reached the consolation finals, before calling it a day.

In Flight B doubles, the team of
Zayra Gomez and Munoz reached the championship semifinals, winning three matches along the way (including teams from Mary Hardin-Baylor and Schreiner).
