ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry University men's tennis team came out on the short end of an 8-1 American Southwest Conference West Division decision to the University of Texas-Dallas at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
The War Hawks fell to 4-11 overall (1-1 ASC West), while the comets improved to 6-3 on the year (1-0 ASC West).
McMurry notched its lone win of the afternoon from its freshman phenom,
Carlos Martinez. Martinez won his seventh-consecutive match – all in straight sets – by dispatching of UTD's Christian Duarte, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
On the year, Martinez has a team-leading singles record of 10-3 (all at the No. 1 position).

Andrew Hallowell – lost at No. 1 doubles. The Comets swept all of the doubles bouts to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the team score after doubles.
UTD won the Nos. 2-6 singles matches for the 8-1 final score. The comets tallied straight-set wins in all five of the remaining singles matches.
The War Hawks will host Howard Payne University at 9 a.m. on Saturday. It is Senior Day for the McM teams.
