RICHARDSON, Texas – McMurry University men's tennis could not hold on to its lead after doubles play and lost a 5-4 decision to the University of Texas-Dallas. The loss dropped the War Hawks to 8-8 on the year.
 
McMurry held a 2-1 advantage after winning two of the three doubles bouts. At No. 1 doubles, 
Carlos Perez and 
Hunter Ward were 8-6 winners, improving their record to 9-7 on the year and riding a three-match win streak.  The War Hawks also won No. 3 pairs play, with 
Kie Jones and 
Travis Gough securing the 8-5 win.
 
However, in the singles matches, the Comets would take four of six contests. UTD won at the Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 5 matches. Three of those went three sets with McM's Perez (No. 1), 
Rayce Roberson (No. 2) and 
Clayton Pope (No. 4) suffering the losses.
 
Ward won at No. 3 singles by a 6-4, 6-3 score. 
Kendal Mann earned a tough 7-5, 7-5 straight-set win at No. 6 singles, as well.
