ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's men's tennis lost a narrow decision to Hardin-Simmons University, 5-4, at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. The War Hawks are now 6-7, while the Cowboys are 7-6.
In doubles, McMurry got its lone win at the No. 1 spot.
Carlos Perez and
Hunter Ward toppled HSU's Alex Hunt and Andrew Eurek, 8-1. Then two teams would split the six singles matches.
At No. 2 singles,
Rayce Roberson won in straight sets over the Cowboys' Ben Gutierrez, 6-2, 6-1. At No. 3 singles,
Hunter Ward battled to a three-set win over B.J. Famakis. Ward lost set one, 4-6, but won the next two by identical 6-4, 6-4 scores.
Kie Jones, playing No. 5 singles for McM, was also a straight-set victor. Jones made short work of HSU's Kennan Nash, 6-3, 6-2.
