ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – The McMurry University men's tennis team dropped its final match of a four-game road swing, losing to Belhaven University, 8-1. The setback left the War Hawks at 6-6 on the season.
The Blazers (7-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the team score by sweeping all three doubles contests.
In singles play, McMurry's lone win of the morning came from
Rayce Roberson at the No. 2 position. Roberson toppled BU's Gabriel DaCosta in straight sets by scores of 6-3, 6-3.
At No. 1,
Carlos Perez lost a tough first set, 7-6 (8-6), to the Blazers' Rafael Siqueira, before dropping the second as well by a count of 6-4. BU also won the Nos. 3 and 4 bouts in straight sets, with
Hunter Ward and
Clayton Pope suffering the defeats for McM. Ward lost 6-3, 7-5 and Pope fell 6-0, 6-3.
McMurry's
Kie Jones and Kendall Mann were beaten at the Nos. 5 and 6 slots, respectively.
