Volleyball Can't Overcome Patriots' Game

 
BELTON, Texas – Playing in the American Southwest Conference's Crossover Tournament, McMurry University's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to UT-Tyler at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.  The Patriots (9-5) defeated the War Hawks (6-4) by set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 23-25, 25-21.
 
After a three-match win streak, the setback was the second-straight loss for McM.
 
Both teams had good offensive games, with McMurry hitting .236 for the match. The Patriots, however, hit .263 behind 20 kills from Courtney Criswell. Criswell also had 21 digs and two blocks for UTT. The Patriots also had 22 more kills, total, than did McM.
 
Senior all-American Catherine Heath led McM's attack, knocking down 10 kills and a .421 attack average. Heath also had three blocks. 
 
Audrey Sander, also a senior, led the War Hawks with a .571 attack average. Sanders slammed down nine kills in 14 attempts, with just one error. Sanders also had a team-leading five total blocks.
 
Junior Katy Headrick contributed seven kills and a pair of solo blocks.
 
Morgan Thomas had a team-high 15 assists, with Jessica Tennis close behind with 13 assists. Jessica Cory had 15 digs.
 
McMurry will round out the two-day event with a match versus LeTourneau University on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
