BROWNWOOD, Texas – McMurry men's tennis won its sixth-consecutive match – logging its seventh shutout of an opponent – with its 9-0 win at Howard Payne University. The War Hawks improved to 13-5 on the year.
Starting the day with doubles, McM quickly took a 3-0 cushion by sweeping all three points. At No. 1 pairs,
Casjen Rico and
Dani Perez improved their record to 8-3 on the year by dispatching of Edgar Torres and Drew Lambert, 8-2.
At No. 2 doubles,
Carlos Perez and
Hunter Ward had no trouble with the Yellow Jackets' tandem of Marshal McIntosh and Mitch Sostorch, 8-1. HPU defaulted at third doubles.

Mark Hathorn gave
Dani Perez a rest in singles, bumping up his lineup. The War Hawks were still dominating in singles, losing only four games all day. At No. 1 singles, Rico won his 16th match (16-2) of the year by blanking Torres, 6-0, 6-0.
At Nos. 2 and 3 singles,
Tom Weir (14-4) and
Rayce Roberson (11-7) also pitched shutouts at their HPU foes – Lambert and McIntosh – respectively.
No. 4 belonged to the War Hawks'
Clayton Pope, 6-1, 6-1 over the Yellow Jackets' Lane Tyson.
Kie Jones won at No. 5, 6-0, 6-2 over Sostorch, while
Carlos Perez took a default win at No. 6
The War Hawks close the regular season on Saturday with a match at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
