SHREVEPORT, La. – McMurry University started its Spring Break road trip in a big way, shutting out Centenary College, 9-0. The War Hawks lost just two games in the entire match, improving to 5-2 on the year.
McM opened the afternoon match with a sweep of doubles. At No. 1 doubles,
Casjen Rico and
Dani Perez topped CC's Stafford Lyons and Andrew Borel, 8-1.
At Nos. 2 and 3 pairs play, the tandems of
Hunter Ward/
Carlos Perez and
Tom Weir/
Rayce Roberson both won by 8-0 scores, respectively.
The War Hawks – playing minus No. 1 singles starter
Gabriel Aboitiz (wrist) – bumped up its lineup versus the Gents.
Dani Perez took duties at the No. 1 slot, defeating Lyons, 6-1, 6-0.
The Nos. 2-6 spots – Rico, Weir, Roberson,
Carlos Perez and Ward – each dispatched of their Centenary foes by identical 6-0, 6-0 margins.
McMurry will continue on the Orlando, Fla., to begin a six-match series next week. The War Hawks open the Sunshine State swing on Monday (March 9) versus Coe College (Iowa) and St. Ambrose University (Iowa).
