RESULTSJOPLIN, Mo. – The McMurry men's cross country team placed eighth out of 20 teams in the college division of the Missouri Southern Stampede Cross Country Invitational.
Despite the top-10 finish, McM head coach
David Chandler believes his team could have done even better.
"The men started out too fast," Chandler explained. "It was a tough race. We need to run our race better. They just got excited. We'll do better next time."
Senior
Michael Dowd had his team's best time for the second-consecutive race, posting a 26:58.83 minutes for the 8K course. Dowd was 18th out of the field of 167 runners.
Freshman teammate Kole Bryan was 42nd overall in a time of 27:58.42, while senior
Spenser Patterson was 62nd (crossing the line at 28:32.97).
Other McM finishers included junior
Hector Flores in 71st (28:52.16), freshman
Blake Janek in 126th (30:57.27), freshmen
Kollin Meyer in 137th (32:04.67), sophomore
Kirk Hodel in 146th (32:54.70) and junior
Anthony Todd in 153rd (33:44.82).
