SAN ANTONIO, Texas – After winning two straight by shutout scores, the McMurry men's tennis team was defeated at Trinity University, 7-2, in a non-conference match.
 
The Tigers jumped ahead in the team score, 3-0, by sweeping all three doubles bouts.
 
The War Hawks' two victories came from the No. 3 and No. 5 singles matches. At third singles, Preston Steblein evened his personal record at 8-8 with a three-set win over TU's Nicolas Moreno. After losing set one 6-4, Steblein won set two also by a score of 6-4. In the third-set tiebreaker, Steblein battled to a 10-8 win.
 
At the No. 5 contest, Casjen Rico notched his team-leading 13th singles win (13-3). Rico topped Jordan Mayer in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4.
 
Trinity won the balance of the singles matches in straight sets.
 
McM is now 7-9 on the season.
