SILVER CITY, N.M. – McMurry's men's tennis team suffered its third-consecutive loss in a battle of regionally-ranked teams, falling to Western New Mexico University, 6-3.
The Mustangs (6-7), ranked No. 8 in NCAA II, jumped out to a 2-1 team score advantage after the three doubles matches. The War Hawks' (5-8) lone pairs win came at No. 1 doubles from
Chris Breaux and Sani Perez, who defeated Francisco Damasio and Alvaro Nunez, 8-5.
McM's other two wins came at No. 2 singles from Breaux, who topped Nunez 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 retired.
Casjen Rico earned the team's other point at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Omar Lopez.
