ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's men's tennis team opened the 2014 season with a pair of losses this weekend, falling to Trinity University (6-3) on Friday and Abilene Christian University (5-2) on Saturday at the ACU Teague Events Center.
In Friday's match against NCAA III power Trinity, all of McMurry's points came from doubles play, as the War Hawks swept all three bouts. At No. 1 doubles, 
Chris Breaux and 
Casjen Rico were winners, as was team of 
Dustin Douglas and 
Carlos Perez at No. 2 doubles. 
Felipe Cruz and 
Dani Perez earned the win at No. 3 doubles.
Versus the host Wildcats, McM won two singles matches. At No. 6 singles, the War Hawks' 
Casjen Rico went three sets – 3-6, 6-2, 10-5 – in topping the Wildcats' Marco Bensley. At No. 2 singles, 
Felipe Cruz lost the opening set, 4-6 and was tied with ACU's Nicklas Wingord 5-5 in the second set when Wingord retired from the match.
At No. 3 doubles, the tandem of Cruz and 
Dani Perez were victorious over ACU's duo of Jason Proctor and Michael Morris, 6-4, but ACU won the other two matches to take the point for doubles.
