Box Score LUBBOCK, Texas – McMurry University's men's basketball team saw its record dip to the .500 level, suffering its second-consecutive loss, 72-55, this time at the hands of Lubbock Christian University. The War Hawks are 2-2 on the season and the Chaps improved to 2-2, as well.
McM was playing minus leading scorer and rebounder
Connor Robinson, who was injured in the first minute of last night's setback at Wayland Baptist, and freshman
Diondre Frank (also injured at WBU).
The absence of Robinson became evident in the paint, as LCU doubled-up on McM's inside scoring, 32-16.
Likewise, the Chaps held a commanding advantage on the boards, 44-27.
There were seven ties and four lead changes in the game, all occurring within the first 10 minutes of play. After that point, the Chaps held the upper hand the balance of the game. LCU led at halftime, 36-27.
Jordan Holmes tallied a team-leading 12 points for McM head coach
Clif Carroll's crew, 10 of which came in the second half. Holmes was 4-of-9 shooting from the floor and canned a pair of three-pointers. He also had three steals.
Alex Lewis also hit double figures with 10 points, going 5-of-12 from the field and pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.
Cutter Smith added nine points and
Hondo Webb seven. Webb also gave off a game-leading seven assists and made two steals.
LCU made a living at the free throw stripe, going 25-for-30 from the charity line. McM was 11-of-17 on free throw attempts.
