ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry men's tennis won four of six singles matches on its way to a 6-3 American Southwest Conference West Division victory Howard Payne University at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
The War Hawks (6-7, 2-2 ASC West) started the match by winning two of the three doubles points. At No. 1 doubles, the tandem of 
Chris Breaux and 
Casjen Rico won their fourth-consecutive match by an 8-3 count, while at No. 3 pairs play the duo of 
Preston Steblein and 
Arnett McClure scored a dominating 8-0 win.
In singles action, Breaux won at No. 1 with a hard-fought 6-3, 7-5 decision over the Yellow Jackets' Edward Martinez.  Rico followed that with his fourth-straight singles victory, 6-1, 6-2 over HPU's Ryan Prather.
Steblein won at the No. 3 position over Luis Vallecillo, 6-2, 6-3.  The War Hawks' final singles point came from McClure at the No. 6 position with a marathon three-set win over Brit Campbell, 3-6, 6-2, 10-6.
The loss was the first for Howard Payne (5-8, 2-1) in ASC West competition this season.
