Tennis Swept by Dallas Baptist

DALLAS, Texas – McMurry University's tennis teams were both defeated by Dallas Baptist University on Thursday. The War Hawk women (4-1) suffered their first off of the season with a 9-0 blanking, while the men's team (2-2) lost a tough 5-4 match.

DBU dominated all six singles matches in the women's competition, winning each in straight sets. At No. 1 doubles, McMurry's tandem of Dana LeMieux and Brandy Curry battled before taking a 9-7 loss.

In the men's match, McM won four of the six singles competitions.

No. 1 singles player Chris Breaux (4-0) kept his individual record unblemished with a 6-3, 6-2 win over DBU's Richard Abel. Casjen Rico, playing No. 2 singles, also remained unbeaten with a marathon win over Phillip Allen, 3-6, 6-2, 10-7.

At No. 3 singles, McM got a win from Preston Steblein and Coby Freehauf did the same at the No. 6 position for the War Hawks. Steblein and Freehauf both won in straight sets.

Dallas Baptist swept all three doubles matches to secure the team victory, 5-4.
