ABILENE, Texas - Concordia University scored two first half goals to hand McMurry University's men soccer program its second consecutive American Southwest Conference loss Saturday afternoon at Edwards Field. The 2-0 loss moves McMurry to 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in ASC play.
McMurry out shot the Tornados in the first half by a count of 6-5 landing two of the six on goal. Mohamed Diallo for CTX scored its first goal of the match in the 28th minute when he took a deflected pass from a McMurry defender and put it past the War Hawks goalie
Zack Brewer in the lower left corner.
The Tornados second goal came less than five minutes later in the 33rd minute of the match off the foot of Andrew De Lira. De Lira took a pass from Sebastian Parra and found the back of the net past a diving Brewer.
McMurry took 12 shots landing four on goal. Freshman
Jordan Miller took one shot landing it on goal. The War Hawks Brewer recorded four saves while allowing the two Tornado goals. CTX out shot McMurry taking 15 landing six on goal.
McMurry goes to the University of the Ozarks continuing ASC play Friday at 4 p.m. The loss moves McMurry to 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in ASC play. The win moves Concordia to 1-2-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in ASC play.
