ABILENE, Texas - McMurry University's Tennis teams had solid outings Saturday and Sunday as both the men's and women's squads picked up two wins apiece over Southwestern and UT-Dallas to go undefeated for the weekend.

For the women, a 5-4 win over Southwestern meant that McMurry defeated the Pirates who were ranked No. 14 in the region coming into the contest. The Pirates took all three matches on the doubles court, however, McMurry took care of business on the singles court and took five out of six matches to take the victory.

Whitney Zugai, Gavee Olsen, Chelsea Miller and Hillary Stone picked up singles court wins while Rachel Smith took a win by default. Stone and Karlie Dieterich fought hard on the No. 3 doubles court but fell 8-6.

Then, Sunday the women took a 7-2 win over American Southwest Conference east division foe UT-Dallas. This time, McMurry swept doubles; Lindsey Bloomer and  Miller won in the No. 1 doubles spot,  Olsen and Amy Hathorn won 9-7 if the No. 2 slot and Stone and Dieterich won the No. 3 spot. On the singles court, Olsen and Smith each took wins while Miller and Stone picked up wins by default.

The men swept Southwestern with a dominant performance. Will Davis and Bryan Rainwater won on the doubles court from the No. 1 spot, Daniel Olivares and Levi Cockrill won the No. 2 doubles match and Tony Williams and Brent Abilez won the third spot.

Davis overcame a first set loss on the singles court to win 3-6, 7-5, 10-8. Rainwater, Olivares, Williams, Abilez and Cockrill all won in two sets.

Against UT-Dallas, the men took a 7-2 win taking two of three on the doubles court and five of six matches on the singles court. Olivares and Cockrill teamed up for a No. 2 doubles win while Williams and Abilez won from the third slot. Davis, Olivares, Williams, Abilez and Cockrill all took matches on the singles court.
