ABILENE, Texas - The 2010 McMurry Tennis team got off to a good start Saturday when both the men's and women's teams defeated the University of the Southwest at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. The men took a convincing 8-1 victory while the women edged the Lady Mustangs 5-4.
In men's action, McMurry swept all six singles matches and took two of three on the doubles court.

Bryan Rainwater,
Daniel Olivares,
Tony Williams,
Brent Abilez and
Levi Cockrill all took victories in two sets.
Davis and Rainwater teamed up to beat USW's Adam Faul and Jorge Soto 8-4. Abilez and Williams defeated the Mustangs' Teddy Yelley and Johnathan Lira 8-3. USW's Josh Baker and Richard Southern edged McMurry's Olivares and Cockrill 8-6.
On the women's side, McMurry took four of six singles matches while the Lady Mustangs took two of three on the doubles court.

Gavee Olsen,
Chelsea Miller and
Hilary Stone took wins on the singles court. Olsen and Stone combined to beat USW's Kelley Sessions and Tory Delgudo 8-3. Zugai and
Karlie Deiterich were edge by the Lady Mustangs' Stephanie Russel and Mary Thaxton 8-6.
In exhibition action, the men lost 6-3 to New Mexico Military Institute and fell to Colin County Community College 7-2. On the women's side, McMurry beat N.M.M.I. 6-3 and fell to CCCC 8-1.
Saturday McMurry's men will play Texas Tech in Lubbock at 9 a.m. and then will head back to Abilene to play host to Austin College at 3:30 p.m. The women will also play host to Austin College in Abilene at 3:30 p.m.
