ABILENE, Texas -- For the second time in a week, Mary Hardin-Baylor handed McMurry an American Southwest Conference West Division loss as the Cru gave McMurry its first loss at Kimbrell Arena this season in an 84-76 game Thursday night.
The loss drops McMurry to 14-6 overall and 13-3 in ASC play; meanwhile, the Cru improve to 12-7 and 10-5. Despite the loss, McMurry still holds a two and a half game lead over UMHB in the battle for the ASC West title. McMurry will return to action at 3 p.m. on Saturday when they host Concordia Texas at Kimbrell Arena. Saturday will also be “Senior Night” for the four McMurry men's players.
After McMurry took a 35-32 lead into halftime, the Cru completely dominated McMurry in the second half as UMHB outscored McMurry 52-41 in the frame. The Cru led by as many as nine points in the second frame (they led by nine points on three different occasions in the second half with the last time coming with 24 seconds remaining) as McMurry struggled to stop UMHB in crucial situations in the frame.
The game was tied at 46 with 12:51 remaining in regulation before UMHB went on a 9-2 run over the next three minutes to gain some separation. McMurry would never tie or lead in the game again.
McMurry senior guard
Jonathan Walker, the ASC's leading scorer, finished with a game-high 32 points on 10 of 18 shooting from the floor, including 10 of 14 from the charity stripe. Walker also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out two assists.

Dewayne Hall was the only other McMurry player to finish with double-digit points as he scored 11 points. McMurry senior center
Brett Johnson finished with a game-high 10 rebounds and eight assists, while McMurry senior guard
Robert Moreno, who leads the ASC in assists and steals, finished with a game-high seven assists and a game-high four steals.
The Cru also knocked off McMurry, 73-65, last week in Belton. UMHB's two-game season sweep of McMurry was the first time since the 2004-05 season.
