Biography
2008-09 Season (Junior):
Played in 25 games and started 24 averaging 31 minutes per game. Shot 39 percent from beyond the 3-point arc (17-44) and 78 percent from the free-throw line (35-45). Led the American Southwest Conference in assists with 182 (7.3 pg) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.01:1). Averaged 2.36 steals per game, which led the team and was third in the ASC. Scored four points per game and had six games with at least 10 assists including a career-high 15 against Concordia-Texas Jan. 31. Named second-team all-ASC West.
2007-08 Season (Sophomore):
Played in 20 games and started 12 suffering off and on from injuries. Averaged 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals as well as four points per games his sophomore season.
2006-07 Season (Freshman):
Missed 12 games with a fractured ankle after injuring it in the first game of the season. Moreno did, however, make his presence known in the games he played as he earned all-ASC West Division Defensive Team Honors. In 14 games, he averaged 3.6 points, four assists and 2.4 rebounds while grabbing 29 steals.
High School:
Three-year letterwinner for coach Don Denson at Homer Hanna High School in Brownsville, Texas. Denson’s son, Alex, was an all-American at McMurry. Moreno averaged 20 points and 6.5 assists per game his senior year as he was named his district’s MVP. He helped the Eagles to three-straight 5A state playoff appearances and was a first-team all-district selection his junior and senior years. He was also a two-time member of the first-time “all-Valley” as well as a two-time winner of the all-Metro MVP award.
