High School:

Played three seasons at linebacker and tight end for head coach Mickey Owens at Monahans High School in Monahans. Named second team all-state 3A at tight end and honorable mention all-state at linebacker. Helped the Loboes to a 13-1 record and reached the state quarterfinals recording 140 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. On offense he caught 40 passes for 892 yards and caught 11 touchdowns as a senior. Also played four seasons of varsity baseball for the Loboes and three seasons of basketball.
