ABILENE, Texas - McMurry bounced back after dropping the first set to defeat Arlington Baptist in four sets on Tuesday at Kimbrell Arena.
The 16-25, 25-20, 25-21, 26-24 win pulled the War Hawks to 2-4 on the year.
Hanna Rubis had a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs to pace the War Hawks.
Madi Polasek added a team-high 14 kills, and
Grace Fortune led with 41 assists.
Jalie Miller was everywhere on the back row with 19 digs and three aces, while
Kenzie Jackson was in on four blocks and
Layleah Williams-Gibson added 10 kills.
Lexi Nichols also matched the team-high with three aces.
The match got off to a back-and-forth start, with the opening set seeing six ties and four lead changes before Arlington Baptist pulled away for the 25-16 win.
McMurry battled back in the second set, which featured five early ties and two lead changes, before closing it out 25-20.
The War Hawks dominated the third set 25-21 without a single lead change. In a tight fourth set, the War Hawks climbed their way back to claim the set 26-24 to secure the match.
Volleyball next heads to the ETBU Tournament in Marshall, TX to take on Christopher Newport University on Friday, September 18th at 11:30 a.m.
