SUWANEE, GA - The SCAC office tonight announced the bracket for the 2026 baseball tournament, which will begin Thursday, April 30 and be played at La Moderna Field in Cleburne, Texas.
After over a decade of taking the top four teams to the league's postseason event, for the first time since 2012, the SCAC Baseball Championships will be comprised of the league's top six teams.
Texas Lutheran University (28-12 overall; 21-9 SCAC) enters this year's event as the top seed and regular season champion and earned one of the two first-round byes. The Bulldogs had qualified for the event for 10 consecutive years prior to last year's omission.
SCAC newcomer LeTourneau University (23-17 overall; 20-10 SCAC) is the second seed and received the second first-round bye. The Yellowjackets tied for the American Southwest Conference regular season title a year ago.
Concordia University (Texas) (25-15 overall; 18-12 SCAC), one of two teams who return from last year's field, earned the third seed and will take on sixth-seed Centenary College (21-19 overall; 16-14 SCAC) in Thursday's tournament opener. The Tornados made it to the championship game last season in their first year in the SCAC while the Gents returns to the field after winning the tournament title in their last appearance in 2024. First pitch for that contest is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
Game Two, which will follow on Thursday at 3 p.m. CT, will feature fourth-seeded McMurry University (19-19 overall; 15-13 SCAC) against fifth-seeded Hendrix College (21-19 overall; 16-14 SCAC). McMurry was one of three SCAC teams who qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season and Hendrix, in its first season back in the conference after exiting following the 2012 season, played in the last six-team SCAC event. McMurry swept the Warriors earlier this season at Walt Driggers Field.
Hendrix and Centenary both finished with 16-14 conference marks, but Hendrix earned the higher seed by virtue of its 2-1 head-to-head series advantage during the regular season.
The last game of the evening, scheduled for first pitch at 7 p.m. CT, will feature the two losing teams from Games One and Two in an elimination contest.
The double elimination tournament begins Thursday, April 30 and returns to La Moderna Field in Cleburne, Texas after a one-year stop at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas. The four-day event continues through Sunday, May 3, with all games live streamed via CooperSports through the league's partnershp with FloSports.
This will be the seventh SCAC baseball tournament played at the Cleburne facility.
