ABILENE, Texas - The McMurry men's soccer team fell to St. Thomas 3-0 on Sunday at Elmer Gray Stadium in a conference matchup, putting their overall season record at 2-6-1 (0-2 SCAC).
The Celts scored the game's first goal in the 17th minute. The War Hawks' defense held strong for the majority of the match, but St. Thomas broke through late in the second half, scoring in the 83rd and 87th minutes to solidify their victory.
Despite the loss, the War Hawks held the Celts to only 14 shots. Goalkeeper Jose Sanchez was active all afternoon, tallying six total saves, including four in the second half.
McMurry's offense recorded seven shots, three of which were on goal. Jordan Katende and Juan Carlos Rocha Ceron each put a shot on frame. Other players who recorded shots included Pedro Yanez, Jovani Burnett, and Johnny Rocha.
The War Hawks will continue their conference schedule next week at home against Austin College on Friday, October 3rd, at 7:30 p.m.
