ABILENE, TX — The McMurry War Hawks fell to the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs in a three-set conference match on Friday, with set scores of 22-25, 10-25, and 17-25. The loss brings the War Hawks' season record to 6-4 (1-2 in conference play).
The McMurry offense was led by a pair of players with seven kills: Carli Colbert and Madi Polasek. Polasek hit a solid .263 for the match, while Marcette Williams followed closely with six kills. Colbert also facilitated the offense, leading the team with 13 assists. Alexis Dolton contributed 16 assists, forming the primary setting duo.
The War Hawks managed only four total aces from the service line. Dolton led the team with two aces, while Layleah Williams-Gibson and Patterson each added 1. On defense, Colbert anchored the back row with a team-high seven digs, with Isabela Dorsey contributing 5. The War Hawks' defense tallied four total blocks, showcasing strength at the net, highlighted by Patterson's solo block.
The War Hawks battled hard in the opening set, holding a narrow lead late before ultimately falling 22-25. However, the team struggled to maintain consistency in the second and third sets, resulting in final scores of 10-25 and 17-25.
