BATESVILLE, AR - The McMurry men's soccer team fell to 1-1 after a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Lyon Sunday morning.
The War Hawks' first goal came in the 69th minute when
Juan Carlos Rocha Ceron buried a penalty kick to cut the deficit to 2-1. Just eight minutes later,
Abel Gonzalez brought the War Hawks within one again, scoring in the 78th minute with an assist from
Jaiden Cervantez.
McMurry outshot its opponent 13-15 and had five shots on goal.
Goalkeeper
Jose Sanchez had two saves in the match.
Juan Carlos Rocha Ceron led the team with four shots, including three on goal and one successful penalty kick.
Abel Gonzalez had a goal on his only shot, while
Justyn Judie contributed three shots to the McMurry effort.
The War Hawks next play Hardin-Simmons at the HSU Soccer Complex on Thursday with kickoff at 8:00 pm.
