ABILENE, TX - McMurry Men's Soccer started its 2025 season under new head coach
Lorenzo Segura with a commanding 5-1 victory over Arlington Baptist at Wilford Moore Stadium on Friday night. The War Hawks' offense came alive in the second half, scoring four unanswered goals to secure the win.
The Patriots took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute, but the War Hawks responded quickly when
Justyn Judie found the back of the net in the 37th minute, tying the game 1-1 before the half.
The second half was all McMurry. Judie didn't waste any time, scoring his second goal of the night just over 10 minutes into the half to give the War Hawks a 2-1 lead.
Jaiden Cervantez followed up with a pair of goals himself, the first at the 64th minute mark, and the second on an assist from
Pedro Yanez in the 74th minute. The scoring was capped off by a late goal from
Juan Carlos Rocha Ceron at the 88-minute mark.
McMurry's offense was relentless all night, out-shooting Arlington Baptist 26-2 with 19 of those shots on target.
Jose Sanchez earned the win in goal with a key save. Offensively,
Justyn Judie and
Jaiden Cervantez led the charge with two goals apiece, while
Angel Lugo,
Pedro Yanez, and
Juan Carlos Rocha Ceron all contributed with shots on goal.
