McMurry Lands in top 100 of the Learfield Directors' Cup

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The prestigious 2024-25 Division III LEARFIELD Directors' Cup final standings were announced last week by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships in up to 18 sports across the fall, winter, and spring seasons.

McMurry secured 86th overall in the final standings, accumulating 226.25 points. The War Hawks picked up 133.75 points from the winter standings, with Women's Basketball's sweet sixteen run earning 64.00 points and Men's Track & Field picking up 69.75 points following an 8th place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

In the spring, the War Hawks gained another 92.50 points, highlighted by the baseball team collecting 64.00 points after their run to the Super Regionals and the men's track and field program securing 28.50 points on the strength of a 28th place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

This marks McMurry's twelfth appearance on the list and their fifth consecutive year, excluding 2020-2021, when the list wasn't released due to COVID-19. This year's result is their fourth-highest ranking in program history. Their highest finish came in 2008 when they reached the 42nd spot with 358 total points.

Emory University claimed the 2024-25 Division III Directors' Cup, winning with 1,198.75 total points. Johns Hopkins, the reigning champion for the past two years, placed second with 1,147.00 points, while Tufts University earned 1,069.00 points to round out the top three.
