SHREVEPORT - McMurry baseball was able to complete the trifecta for their opening weekend as they got win #3 in the Gents Classic at Centenary.
McMurry defeated LaGrange by a score of 12-2 on Sunday as they moved to 3-0 to start the year & LaGrange dropped to 0-3.
Both teams were scoreless in the opening frame before the McMurry bats came alive for 3 runs in the second inning.
The War Hawks would continue the trend in the next inning as they plated across 4 more runs to make the game 7-1 after 3 innings of play with LaGrange getting 1 across in the bottom half of the 3rd.
McMurry was able to scatter out 5 more runs throughout the rest of the contest while only giving up 1 more run on the defensive end, putting them on their way to a 12-2 victory.
The War Hawks benefited from 4 RBI by Xavier Escobar & a nice game on the mound by their pitching staff. Braydon Durst recorded the win with 3 innings pitched, allowing 6 hits & just 1 run.
McMurry will be back in action on Friday night at home as they take on Concordia at 7:00PM.
