ABILENE- McMurry baseball received their first loss on the season as they fell to Concordia in their Friday night matchup at Walt Driggers Field in Abilene.
McMurry dropped to 3-1 overall as Concordia improved to 3-0 overall on the year.
Concordia jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. McMurry answered in the 2nd inning as they tied the game up at 1-1 going into the third inning.
An empty third frame was followed by a big 4 run inning by the Tornados to put them up 5-1. The rest of the game didn't see much offense as Concordia picked up just 2 more runs and the War Hawks scored just one more time to get us to a final score of 7-2. McMurry had 2 runs on 9 hits with 2 errors, while Concordia has 7 runs on 11 hits with no errors.
Cooper Marshall through 3.1 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 earned runs while striking out 6 batters, but would be the one who is assigned the loss in the books.
The two teams will play again tomorrow at 1:00.
