LONGVIEW, TX - The McMurry men's soccer team suffered a tough 3-2 conference loss to LeTourneau on Sunday at Joyce Family Athletic Village. Despite a late rally in the second half, the War Hawks couldn't overcome the Yellow Jackets' advantage.
McMurry struck first in the 41st minute when Juan Carlos Rocha Ceron scored an unassisted goal, giving the War Hawks a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
LeTourneau responded in the second half with three unanswered goals. However, the War Hawks fought back, with Nick Munoz netting the team's final goal in the 86th minute to cut the deficit to 3-2.
The War Hawks finished the day with 11 total shots, forcing four saves from the LeTourneau goalkeeper. Angel Lugo led the team with three shots, two of which were on target. Moise Munezero, Jordan Katende, Juan Carlos Rocha Ceron, and Nick Munoz each registered a shot on goal for McMurry. Goalkeepers Jose Sanchez and Joaquin Sanchez combined for six saves in the match.
The War Hawks will look to bounce back as they continue their conference schedule next week when they travel to Arkansas to take on the University of the Ozarks on Friday, October 10th, at 7:30 p.m.
