McMurry Can't Overcome Second Half Deficit

CLARKSVILLE, AR - The McMurry men's soccer team fell to the University of the Ozarks 3-1 on Friday at the Thomas and Frances Wilson Complex in a conference match. Despite a late goal, the War Hawks were unable to overcome the Eagles' second-half advantage.

The Eagles got on the scoreboard first in the 30th minute, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime. Ozarks extended its lead in the second half, scoring in the 50th and 78th minutes. The War Hawks broke the shutout late in the match when Nick Munoz scored an unassisted goal in the 86th minute, bringing the final score to 3-1.

The War Hawks managed nine total shots, putting four on target. Pedro Yanez led the team with three shots, one of which was on goal. Dylan Christian recorded two shots on goal and forced a penalty kick opportunity, though the subsequent shot was saved. Nick Munoz's late goal was the only other shot on target. Goalkeeper Joaquin Sanchez recorded two saves in the match.

The War Hawks will continue their conference schedule Sunday, October 12, against Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, at 1:00 p.m. at Warrior Soccer Field.
